Policies & Benefits

We strive to create a positive workplace for our employees to better serve our customers and patients.

Introduction and Mission

Curatio staffing was created so that I could provide high-quality, motivated healthcare provider services to our host facilities when they are in need of additional resources to care for their patient populations. I wanted a company that would provide reliable, critically-thinking, healthcare professionals in a manner that would cause minimal, if any, disruption to the hosts’ units. Ideally, our healthcare professionals would integrate with internal staff seamlessly to help provide excellent patient outcomes. For this to occur, we need to be adaptable, project a positive attitude, and remember that providing our hosts’ patient populations with excellent care strengthens everyone in the chain. This handbook was created to introduce you to required policies. I want Curatio Staffing to be compliant with applicable laws, but beyond, I want to forge a clear understanding of what is expected, and to build a strong, smooth model that can grow with success and keep misunderstandings to a minimum.

General Policies

Equal Opportunity Employment Policy:
Curatio Staffing is an equal opportunity employer and does not unlawfully discriminate against employees or applicants for employment on the basis of an individual’s race, color, religion, creed, sex, national origin, age, disability, marital status, veteran status or any other status protected by applicable law. This policy applies to all terms, conditions and privileges of employment, including recruitment, hiring, placement, compensation, promotion, discipline and termination. Whenever possible, Curatio Staffing makes reasonable accommodations for qualified individuals with disabilities to the extent required by law. Employees who would like to request a reasonable accommodation should contact Curatio Staffing.

License Requirements:
All Curatio Staffing employees will need to maintain State RN licenses and or any required certificates useful to the clients. Please plan accordingly. An expired license or out dated credentials immediately makes you non-employable.

Nurse Safety Act:
Please take some time to review the PA Nurse Safety Act . http://www.dos.pa.gov/ProfessionalLicensing/BoardsCommissions/Nursing/Documents/Applications%20and%20Forms/Professional%20Nurse%20Law.pdf

When working, abide by its principles and standards. We never want to put a patient, our client, or you in jeopardy – safety and principles of care are very important.

Dress Code:
In keeping with my mission statement, Curatio nurses should wear scrubs closely in accordance with our hosts’ staff. Employees who complete a 3-month full time assignment on a unit will be reimbursed for 2 scrub tops and 2 scrub bottoms, as well as $50 for each additional 3-month assignment on that unit to help offset the cost of looking professional.

Educational Benefit:
Curatio Staffing wants to promote independent, fun education in nursing care that excites you. To that end, after each year of full-time employment, I will reimburse each healthcare worker, up to $200 towards medical journals, a medical class or recertification. Excited nurses are more productive. Learning about orthopedic developments, trauma management, and best-standard practices. The company and I believe these measures will make Curatio staffing more marketable.

Employee Health Incentive and Health Benefit:

Employee Health Incentive:
Nursing is hard work; stressful work too- I want you to feel well and be well, and to help foster that condition, I encourage you to spend some time having fun to attain or retain fitness. Curatio Staffing will reimburse full-time employees $150 yearly towards those expense associated with fitness. Do what you love- yoga, karate, biking, even walking the dog –just submit the receipts at the end of each year. It can be a gym membership, yoga bill, sneaker bill, you get the idea- I want you to be well.

Employee Health Benefit:
Each full-time nurse employed by Curatio will receive $250 each month to be applied towards the health plan of the employee’s choice. A full-time employee, per Curatio, is any who works more than 32 hours a week. Should an employee average 24 or more hours a week, a benefit of $125 each month will be granted. In order to receive the Employee Health Benefit, each employee must submit a copy of their health insurance premium statement at least every 3 months.

Payroll Policy:
Each nurse will be required to complete a weekly time sheet due to the office on the day following a completed week schedule. The time sheet will be signed by the charge nurse each shift you complete. If you are the charge nurse, that requirement will be waived. Curatio Staffing will issue a check on Friday of each week or direct deposit transactions will occur Friday morning. Failure for staff members to comply will lead to a delay of one week for check disbursement. Our payroll is managed professionally, and we want you to have your well-deserved funds, so we ask for your cooperation in this matter. An employee who works at a host facility more than 40 hours in a week will be paid at a time-and-a-half rate. I do not want employees to work more than 8 hours on a given day. Our jobs are difficult and we need adequate rest. If there is an emergency situation, please notify the office when safe to do so. Each facility will determine their holiday schedule. If you are working on a “holiday” when house staff are reimbursed at time-and-a-half, you too will be reimbursed at that rate. If you are employed on an assignment other than Curatio Staffing, while working for Curatio Staffing, do not accept a shift for Curatio Staffing less than 8 hours from your other responsibility. My promise to our host facilities is to provide motivated, capable assistance. We don’t want to overextend ourselves.

Drug and Alcohol Policy:
Employees of Curatio Staffing are prohibited from unlawfully consuming, distributing, possessing, selling, or using controlled substances while on duty. In addition, employees may not be under the influence of any controlled substance, such as drugs or alcohol, while at work. Prescription drugs or over-the-counter medications, taken as prescribed, are an exception to this policy. Curatio Staffing will conduct routine pre-employment drug screening for each new employee, and random testing as they see fit. Anyone violating this policy may be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination.

Harassment / Abuse Policy:
Curatio Staffing prohibits discrimination or harassment based on race, color, religion, creed, sex, national origin, age, disability, marital status, veteran status, or any other status protected by applicable law. Each individual has the right to work in a professional atmosphere that promotes equal employment opportunities and is free from discriminatory practices, including without limitation harassment. Violations of this policy will not be tolerated. Any Curatio Staffing employee who feels that he or she has been harassed or discriminated against, or has witnessed or become aware of discrimination or harassment in violation of these policies, should bring the matter to the immediate attention of Curatio Staffing. An investigation and its results will be treated as confidential to the extent feasible, and the company will take appropriate action based on the outcome of the investigation.

Social Media Policy:
We need to make sure we abide by HIPPA guidelines. In your personal use of social media, avoid any mention of facility information or specific nursing issues affecting the unit. Maintain a professional, positive outlook and attempt to avoid problematic, internal issues. We want to be the standard bearers.

Call Off Policy:
Here’s how I feel- If a unit needs us, they likely already have been dealt with a staffing issue. My promise to them is that we will alleviate their stress, not contribute to it. I understand emergencies will arise. If you need to call off, call the office at least 4 hours before the scheduled shift. I will try to fill this need. Curatio wants to be viewed as reliable, and we are privileged to be of assistance to the host facility. It helps everyone if we fulfill our mission.
